Happy hour
Run a happy hour, such as 1+1 on cocktails or 20% off drinks from 5 to 7 pm, that applies automatically on the POS and the QR menu.
A happy hour is an offer that only runs at set times. It applies on its own: guests don't need a code, and staff don't need to remember it.
Creating a happy hour
Go to Growth → Offers & coupons and click a template:
- Happy hour: a percentage off chosen dishes or drinks, Monday to Friday, 5–7 pm.
- Happy hour 1+1: buy one, get one free on chosen drinks, every day, 5–7 pm.
Then:
- Under Applies to, choose Selected dishes and pick the categories or drinks, for example "Cocktails".
- Open Schedule and set the days and the start and end time. Times are in the outlet's timezone. A window that crosses midnight (for example 10 pm to 1 am) works too.
- Leave Coupon code empty so it applies automatically, keep POS and QR ticked under channels, and click Create offer.
What guests and staff see
- On the QR menu, a Happy hour now banner shows while the window is open, with the time it ends. Drinks in the offer show their deal, and the offer card is marked HAPPY HOUR.
- On the POS and the QR menu, the discount is worked out when the round is sent. The bill shows it as its own line with the offer's name, and it's printed on the bill.
- With 1+1, the cheaper drink of each pair is free.
The time that counts is when the round is ordered: drinks ordered at 6:55 pm keep the discount even if the bill is paid later.
Tips
- Use sizes (30 ml, 60 ml, pint, pitcher) on the drink so the offer covers every size.
- If you use tax classes, a happy-hour discount on liquor reduces the liquor's VAT, not the food's GST.
- To pause a happy hour, switch it off in the offers list.
