Call waiter, bill and water requests

How guests call a waiter, ask for the bill or ask for water from the table QR, and where staff see and clear these requests.

Guests at a table can call a waiter, ask for the bill or ask for water from their phone, without waving for attention. The request appears on the staff screens straight away with the table name. This article explains what the guest taps, where staff see it and how to mark it done.

How guests send a service request

Guests can only send requests after scanning their table's QR code, so every request carries the right table.

From the menu:

  1. The guest taps the round bell button (Call staff) at the bottom right of the menu.
  2. A panel opens: How can we help? "We'll notify your waiter at Table (name)."
  3. They choose Call a waiter, Get the bill or Water.
  4. Their phone confirms: "A waiter is on the way", "Your bill is on its way" or "Water is on its way".

From their order tracking page, guests also have Call a waiter and Ask for bill buttons. After asking for the bill, the button shows Bill requested.

If the same table sends the same request twice before anyone handles it, AirQR keeps just one open request, so staff aren't flooded.

Where staff see service requests

  • Overview. A red banner lists open requests, for example "Table 5 wants the bill · Table 2 asked for water · Table 7 is calling". Tapping it opens Tables.
  • Tables (live floor). Open requests appear as red cards at the top: Table (name) · Calling a waiter, Wants the bill or Asked for water, with how long ago. The table's tile is highlighted too, and the Tables item in the side menu shows a count.
  • Point of sale. Under Open checks, a check whose table asked for the bill shows "bill requested".
  • Table details. Tapping a table on the live floor lists its open requests at the top.

Marking a service request done

  1. Handle the request at the table (bring water, take the bill, speak to the guest).
  2. On Tables, tap Done on the request card (or on the request inside the table's details).
  3. The request disappears for everyone and the counts go down.

When a table's check is settled and closed, all open requests for that table are cleared automatically.

Marking requests done needs table access, which owners, managers, cashiers, waiters and hosts have. Kitchen staff can't mark requests done.

Plans: Starter vs Growth

Guests can send requests on every plan. The Tables live floor, where requests are marked Done, is included in the Growth plan and above (and the free trial). On the Starter plan, requests show on the Overview banner, and they clear by themselves when the table's check is closed.

Troubleshooting service requests
