Getting started: choosing your modules
The questions you answer when you set up your business, how AirQR recommends modules from them, presets, "Start with everything", and suggestions later on.
A module is one part of AirQR you can switch on or off as a whole: Reservations, Takeaway, Kitchen display, Loyalty, Inventory and so on. The essentials (menu, QR codes, orders, payments, staff, tables, GST and basic reports) are always on.
When you set up a business, AirQR asks a few short questions about how you work and then suggests which modules to start with (Kitchen display, Delivery, Reservations, Loyalty and so on). You only see the screens for the modules you pick, so your team isn't lost in features you don't use. Nothing is final: change modules any time in Settings → Modules (see Modules: turn features on and off).
What questions are asked?
There are seven short steps. Every one has a Skip button, and the whole thing takes about two minutes.
- Business: the name, what kind of place it is (restaurant, fine dining, bar & pub, café, quick service, cloud kitchen, hotel F&B, food court stall or chain), how many outlets, and your first outlet's name, city and country.
- How guests order (pick all that apply): at the table by QR, at the counter, a self-order kiosk, online for pickup, delivery, staff take orders on the POS, phone or WhatsApp orders, or just a digital menu.
- Service: table service (and how many tables), reservations, a bar with running tabs, tokens on a screen.
- Kitchen: screens, printers, both, or neither.
- Money: UPI, cash, card machine, and whether you keep a cash drawer with a day-end report.
- Team: the roles you have (managers, captains, waiters, cashiers, kitchen, bartenders, delivery riders and so on) and roughly how many people. AirQR sets up those roles for you; no accounts are created. Afterwards your Overview says which roles are ready, and you add people in Admin → Staff (see Staff roles: who sees what).
- Grow (optional): bring guests back, offers and happy hours, campaigns, more Google reviews, menu languages, stock and food cost, staff rosters, the AI waiter.

How does AirQR pick my modules?
On the Your modules step you see:
- Recommended for you: a starting point that fits your answers, e.g. Cloud kitchen, Café / QSR counter, Bar & pub or Full-service restaurant.
- Every module with a switch. The ones that are on show why, for example "Kitchen display: You said screens in the kitchen" or "Guest CRM: Needed by Loyalty & rewards".
- If you skipped a question, the modules for that part come from the starting point ("Usual for a Cloud kitchen").
Switch anything on or off. Some modules need another one: turning on Loyalty & rewards turns on Guest CRM too, and turning Guest CRM off turns Loyalty off with it. A line under the list tells you each time.
What are the presets and "Start with everything"?
Under Or start from there's a chip for every preset: Digital menu only, Café / QSR counter, Self-order kiosk / food court, Cloud kitchen, Full-service restaurant, Bar & pub, Fine dining, Hotel F&B and Multi-outlet chain. Press one to start from its modules instead.
Start with everything turns on every module your plan includes. Back to the recommendation undoes your changes.
What about my plan?
- Your free trial includes every module, so you can try anything.
- Each module shows the smallest plan that includes it (Growth or Pro). Those need that plan once the trial ends.
- On Starter, you use up to 4 modules from Starter's list. If you pick more, the screen tells you which ones were left off ("Left off to stay within 4 modules: …").
- If you move from the trial (or a bigger plan) to Starter with more than 4 modules on, nothing switches off straight away: you're asked to pick the 4 modules to keep within 7 days. You can also add a single module for a monthly fee instead of upgrading. Both are explained in Modules: turn features on and off.
- Turned-off modules aren't part of your bill.
What gets set up for me?
When you press Create my business, AirQR sets up your first outlet to match:
- Tables with QR codes, only if you have table service (a cloud kitchen gets none).
- Online ordering with pickup (and delivery if you deliver), takeaway at the counter (pay first when there are no tables), the order-ready screen link, and KOT printing when you have kitchen printers. Each of these works because its module is on; there's no separate switch to find later.
- Stations for the kitchen: your business type's stations, just one when the kitchen works from the orders list, a bar station for bar tabs and a packing station for delivery.
- The self-order kiosk settings, filled in. Kiosk tablets start taking orders once you set a staff PIN in Settings → Self-order kiosk (the module being on is all the switching you need).
- The AI waiter module only if you chose it. Guests see the Ask button as soon as the module is on, so first follow its Get set up checklist (what it should know about your menu and outlet).
Your Overview then shows a Get set up checklist for each module you turned on (the first four; the rest are in Settings → Modules).
What is "Recommended for you" on the Overview?
After a few weeks, AirQR suggests modules from how you actually work, for example:
- many takeaway orders: the Order-ready screen saves calling out names;
- guests coming back: Loyalty & rewards;
- bookings by phone (or you said you take bookings): Reservations;
- lots of online orders: Delivery;
- many orders and no kitchen screen or printer: Kitchen display;
- lots of 4 and 5 star ratings: Google review booster;
- lots of cash payments: Cash drawer.
Press Turn on to switch one on, or Not for us to stop seeing it. Only owners (and managers allowed to manage modules) see these, and only for modules your plan includes that are off.
I changed my business type. Do my modules change?
No. Changing the type in Settings → Business type never switches modules on or off. After the change you're offered See suggestions, which opens Settings → Modules → Suggestions for the new type: modules to turn on, each with its own Turn on button, and a list of modules that are on but not usual for this kind of business (open the card to turn one off and see exactly what changes first). You can open the suggestions any time from the Suggestions button on the Modules page.
Who answers the questions when AirQR sets up my account?
When AirQR creates your business for you, our team asks the same questions (or picks a preset with you) and your business starts with the same setup as if you'd signed up yourself.
