Modules: turn features on and off

Turn AirQR modules (reservations, takeaway, kitchen display, loyalty and more) on and off for your business or one outlet, see exactly what changes first, and get your data back when you turn one on again.

What is a module?

AirQR is built from modules: Reservations, Takeaway, Kitchen display, Loyalty, Inventory and so on. A module is one part of AirQR that is on or off as a whole: its screens, what guests see, what the AI waiter offers and what staff can do there. Turn on the ones your business uses and turn off the rest, so your team only sees the screens they need. You'll find them in Settings → Modules (the card at the top of Settings, or Add or remove modules at the bottom of the sidebar). New businesses start with the modules picked from their answers at sign-up (see Getting started: choosing your modules).

Some things are always on because every restaurant needs them: the menu and QR codes, orders and bills, payments, staff, tables, GST reports, feedback and basic analytics. They're listed under Always on.

How many modules does my plan include?

  • Starter includes 4 modules of your choice from its list: Table QR ordering, Takeaway & counter pickup, Online ordering, Order-ready screen, Printing, Cash drawer & day-end, Offers & coupons, Smart upsell, Google review booster and Menu languages. The top of Settings → Modules shows how many you use, for example "3 of 4 modules used".
  • Growth includes every module except Multiple outlets and the AI waiter (the AI waiter is an add-on). There's no limit on how many you turn on.
  • Pro and the free trial include every module.

The always-on essentials and add-ons never count towards the 4. If you already had more than 4 on before this limit started, they stay on; you just can't turn on another until you're under the limit (turn some off, add one as an add-on, or upgrade).

How do I add a module my plan doesn't include?

On Starter or Growth you can add a single module for a monthly fee instead of upgrading the whole plan:

  1. In Settings → Modules, find the module. It shows Add for …/month (in your billing currency) when your plan doesn't include it, or when all your plan's modules are in use.
  2. Press it and check what you'll pay. If the module needs another one your plan doesn't have (for example Loyalty needs Guest CRM), both are in the same add-on.
  3. Press Order add-on. You go to Plan & billing, where the order shows the amount (GST included in India, no GST elsewhere) and how to pay: UPI or bank transfer in India, international bank transfer outside India.
  4. Once AirQR confirms your payment you get an email, and the module shows as Add-on. Turn it on when you're ready: nothing switches on by itself.

The first payment covers the days left in your current plan period; after that the add-on renews with your plan. Until you pay, you can Cancel this order on Plan & billing. If you later upgrade to a plan that includes the module, the add-on is removed so you don't pay twice. Only owners can order add-ons.

What does an add-on cost?

Monthly prices, in your billing currency (India prices exclude 18% GST):

ModulesIndiaGulfRest of the world
Order-ready screen, smart upsell, Google review booster, menu translations, thermal printing, cash drawer, bar tabs, offers and coupons₹99AED 7$2
QR ordering, takeaway, online ordering, guest CRM, staff roster, advanced analytics₹199AED 11$3
Delivery, self-order kiosk, live floor plan, reservations, point of sale, kitchen display, loyalty, campaigns, inventory₹299AED 19$5
AI waiter₹399AED 22$6

The Self-order kiosk comes with Growth and above; on Starter it's an add-on. Kiosk tablets are limited per outlet (Starter 1, Growth 2, Pro 5); each Extra kiosk add-on adds one for ₹99 (AED 8, $2) a month. Multiple outlets can't be added on its own: it needs the Pro plan.

What happens when I move to a smaller plan?

If you have more modules on than your new plan includes:

  • Nothing switches off straight away. Your Overview and the Modules page show Pick the 4 modules to keep, and the owners get an email.
  • The owner opens Pick modules (Settings → Modules → Pick your modules). The ones you use most are ticked; change the ticks and press Keep these 4. Modules that need each other are kept together.
  • The ones you don't keep turn off. Takeaway, online and delivery orders that are still open finish first. Nothing is deleted.
  • If you don't choose within 7 days, AirQR keeps the ones you use most and emails you what changed.
  • Modules your new plan doesn't include at all stop with the plan change (their data is kept). You can add one back as an add-on.

Who can change modules?

  • Owners can always turn modules on and off.
  • Managers can only if an owner allows it: at the bottom of the Modules page, switch on Managers can turn modules on and off.
  • When someone other than an owner changes a module, every owner gets an email saying who changed what.
  • Everyone else sees "This module is off for your business." (or "…at this outlet.") and "Ask an owner or manager to turn it on." if they open a screen whose module is off.

How do I turn a module on?

  1. Open Settings → Modules.
  2. Find the module (use the search box or the On / Off / Not in plan filters) and press Turn on.
  3. If it needs another module, AirQR tells you and turns that on too. For example, Loyalty & rewards needs Guest CRM, and Delivery needs Online ordering.
  4. A Get set up checklist appears on the module's card and on your Overview, with a link for each step (for example "Set your booking rules", "Share your booking link"). Tick the steps as you go, or hide the checklist.

The module's screens, guest options and AI waiter abilities come back straight away. If you used it before, all its data is still there ("Welcome back! Your data is still here: 14 offers").

How do I turn a module off?

  1. Press Turn off on the module's card.
  2. AirQR shows a preview of exactly what changes, with live numbers:
    • What disappears: the screens, what guests stop seeing (for example "the booking link shows not taking bookings"), what the AI waiter stops offering, and which staff roles lose which screens.
    • What's kept: how many records stay stored, for example "318 bookings, 3 waitlist entries". Nothing is ever deleted.
    • Open right now: anything that needs a decision (see below).
    • Whether your bill changes. Turning off a module in your plan doesn't change your bill. For a paid add-on, ask AirQR to remove the add-on.
  3. Press Turn off to confirm.

If other modules need the one you're turning off, they turn off too, and you must tick I understand, turn them off too first. For example, turning off Guest CRM also turns off Loyalty & rewards and Campaigns.

What happens to open work?

ModuleWhat happens
Reservations & waitlistUpcoming bookings stay listed, read-only, on the Reservations screen. You keep honouring them, and you can export them.
Cash drawer & day-end reportYou must close the open drawer first. The preview links to the cash drawer.
Takeaway, Online ordering, DeliveryOpen orders can finish first (see "Turn off after current orders finish"), or you can turn it off now. Open orders can still be settled from Orders.
Offers & couponsRunning offers pause: guests stop seeing them. They run again when you turn Offers back on.
CampaignsCampaigns still sending pause where they are.
Staff shifts & attendanceAnyone clocked in is clocked out, with a note on their time entry.
Kitchen displayTickets keep flowing: the kitchen works from the orders list or printed KOTs. Kitchen staff land on Orders.
PrintingNothing new is printed. Print bridges go idle.
Loyalty & rewardsNo points are earned or spent. Balances are kept.
AI waiterThe chat button disappears, and knowledge sync and AI credit use stop. Chats and knowledge are kept.

What is "Turn off after current orders finish"?

When you turn off Takeaway & counter pickup, Online ordering or Delivery while orders are still open, you can choose Turn off after current orders finish:

  • Guests can't place new orders of that kind straight away (the takeaway option or ordering link stops taking orders).
  • Open orders finish as usual.
  • The module's card shows "Turning off after current orders finish (3 left)", with Turn off now and Cancel.
  • When the last open order is closed or cancelled, the module turns off by itself.

Can I turn a module off at one outlet only?

Yes. If you have more than one outlet, each module's card lists your outlets under At each outlet. Switch one off to turn the module off there only, for example Delivery off at one branch. You see the same preview first. You can only change the outlets you have access to.

At one outlet the switch-off is immediate: "Turn off after current orders finish" is only for the whole business. Orders still open at that outlet can be settled from Orders. A module that's off at an outlet still counts as one of your plan's modules, because it's on elsewhere.

What does "New on your plan" mean?

When your plan changes and includes modules you didn't have before, AirQR never switches them on by itself. They show with a New on your plan badge on the Modules page and a notice on your Overview, with a one-tap Turn on. Press Not now to hide the notice.

If you've never changed your modules, you follow your plan. The banner on the Modules page says either "Every module in your (plan) plan is on…" or "Modules you haven't started using are off. Turn one on when you need it: your plan already includes it." (see "One switch per module" below).

One switch per module

The module is the only on/off for a feature. Module on means the feature works; module off means it's hidden everywhere. Screens such as Loyalty, Takeaway, Online ordering, Self-order kiosk and AI waiter no longer have their own on/off switch. For example:

  • Loyalty & rewards on: guests earn and use points. The rules are in the Earning and redeeming section of Loyalty.
  • Takeaway & counter pickup on: guests can order takeaway from the QR menu.
  • Online ordering (pickup) on: your ordering link takes orders. Delivery on: delivery is offered on that link.
  • Self-order kiosk on: kiosk tablets take orders once a staff PIN is set.
  • AI waiter on: guests see the Ask button.

For "not right now", use a pause instead. Pauses only show while their module is on, work straight away without saving, and don't turn the module off:

  • Pause QR ordering in Settings → Ordering: guests can still browse the menu but can't order from it. Table QR ordering, QR takeaway and kiosks all pause.
  • Pause bookings at the top of Reservations (or in Settings → Reservations): the booking page and AI waiter take no new bookings. Existing bookings stay, and staff can still add bookings.
  • Pause online orders on the Takeaway & delivery board: choose 15 minutes, 30 minutes, 1 hour or 2 hours, or Resume now.

If you used AirQR before this change, there's nothing to do.

  • If you've never changed your modules and had a feature's old switch off at an outlet, that module shows as Off there. Turn it on when you want the feature; its Get set up checklist starts (for Loyalty: "Set how guests earn and use points").
  • If you've already chosen your modules, every module that's on now works, even if its old switch was off. For example, with Loyalty & rewards on, guests earn points even if the old loyalty switch was off. Turn the module off if you don't want the feature.

Where did a screen or setting go?

  • A screen whose module is off shows This module is off, with a Manage modules button that opens that module's card.
  • Settings for a module that's off (for example Pause bookings in Settings → Reservations) are replaced by "The Reservations & waitlist module is off here. Manage in Modules".
  • Table setup (tables, areas, table QR codes and waiter calls) is always available. If you turn off the Live floor plan, the menu shows Table setup instead of Tables, and Settings has a Tables & areas card.
  • If someone turns a module off while you're using it, you see a message like "Reservations & waitlist was turned off by Priya" and go back to the Overview.
  • If a page or menu item is missing and you're not sure why (module off, not in your plan, or your role), see I can't see a page or a menu item.
