Delete an outlet, a business or your account
Deleting an outlet is immediate. Deleting a business or your own account closes it now and removes everything after 30 days, and you can restore it until then. Only an owner can delete a business.
There are three different things you can delete, and they behave differently.
| What | Who can do it | When it is gone | Can I undo it? |
|---|---|---|---|
| An outlet | The owner | Right away | No |
| A business (all outlets, staff, menu, orders, guests) | The owner only | After 30 days | Yes, until then |
| My account (your own login) | Anyone signed in, for their own account | After 30 days | Yes, until then |
Download a copy first. Use Settings → Export all data to keep your orders, guests and menu before deleting anything. See Exporting your data.
Delete an outlet
This removes one outlet and everything that belongs only to it, immediately. It is in Settings → Clear data, under Danger zone: delete an outlet. See Clear data and delete an outlet.
If it is your only outlet you can't delete it: AirQR says "This is your only outlet. To remove it, delete the business instead." Use Delete this business below.
Delete a business
Only the owner can delete a business. It is not a permission you can give to a manager or a custom role. A demo business can't be deleted.
- Open Avatar menu → Settings and scroll to Danger zone. (The owner can also rename the business at the top of Settings, in Business name.)
- Click Delete this business…. The window lists your outlets and how many records will go, and the date everything is permanently deleted (30 days from now, or shortly after).
- Type the business name exactly as shown, and enter your password.
- Click Delete business.
What happens next:
- The business closes immediately. The dashboard and POS stop for everyone, guest menus, ordering, bookings and the order-ready screen show "temporarily unavailable", and printed QR codes stop working.
- Every owner gets an email with the date and a way to restore it. Another email arrives about a week before the date.
- You are taken to another business of yours if you have one, otherwise to a page that shows the date and a Restore business button.
- On or shortly after the date, everything is permanently deleted: orders, menu, guests, staff access, settings and uploaded images. People's own sign-ins are separate accounts and stay unless they delete theirs.
Restore a business
Until the deletion has actually run, any owner can open the closed page (sign in, or use the link in the email) and click Restore business. It opens again exactly as it was and the owners get a confirmation email. If you can't sign in, write to support@airqr.in and we can cancel the deletion for you.
Once it has been deleted it can't be recovered. The deletion runs once a day, so it happens on or shortly after the date, and you can restore right up to that moment.
You can still download your data. While a business is waiting to be deleted its owners can still use the read-only exports, so you can download a copy before the date. See Exporting your data.
Delete my account
Anyone can delete their own account: Avatar menu → Delete my account. It is not available for the demo accounts.
The window shows:
- Businesses that will also be deleted: the ones where you are the only active owner. They are scheduled for deletion on the same date.
- Businesses you will just leave: where you are staff or one of several owners. They keep running without you.
Type DELETE and enter your password. You are signed out straight away. If you sign in again within 30 days you land on a page with Restore my account. Restoring brings back your account and the businesses that were scheduled by that same request. After 30 days your login and profile are permanently deleted (on or shortly after the date). If you are still the only owner of a business that is open and was not deleted with the request, your account waits until that business is deleted or has another owner, and we email you once to say so.
To remove both your business and your account, delete your account. It deletes every business you solely own, along with your login. You can start it from the avatar menu, or from the closed-business page and the setup page if you have no business.
Before you delete your account, add another owner to a business you want to keep (Staff), so you are not its only owner.
What AirQR keeps
When a business is permanently deleted, AirQR keeps only its own billing records (your plan invoices, payments and licences), because Indian tax law requires it. Your restaurant data (orders, guests, menu) is not kept. Encrypted backups rotate out within 30 days.
Troubleshooting
| Message or problem | What to do |
|---|---|
| I can't see Danger zone in Settings | Only the owner sees it. Ask the owner. |
| "Type the business name exactly as shown to confirm." | Type the name with the same capital letters and spaces. |
| "Your current password isn't right." | Enter the password you sign in with. If you forgot it, ask your owner or AirQR to reset it. |
| "This is a demo business, so it can't be deleted." | AirQR's demo accounts can't be deleted. Use your own business. |
| "This business is scheduled for deletion." | An owner can restore it from the closed page until the date. |
| I deleted by mistake | Restore it now. Write to support@airqr.in if you can't sign in. |
