Order-ready TV screen
Show a "now serving" screen on a TV near the counter so takeaway guests see their token move from Preparing to Ready.
The order-ready screen is a full-screen web page for a TV or spare tablet near the pickup counter. Guests see their token or order number move from Preparing to Ready, so staff don't have to shout names. It is included in every plan, starting with Starter, and in the free trial.
Setting up the order-ready screen
- Go to Settings → Printing & screens.
- Find the Order-ready screen card ("Put this link on a TV near the counter.").
- If there's no link yet, press Create link.
- Press Copy to copy the link, or Open to open it in a new tab.
- On the TV, open the link in a web browser (a smart TV browser, a TV stick, or a laptop or tablet connected to the TV) and make it full screen.
- Tap or click the screen once to turn the sound on (see below).
No sign-in is needed on the TV. The link itself gives access, so treat it like a key.
What the order-ready screen shows
- A header with your logo, brand name, outlet name and the current time.
- Preparing (left): tokens or order numbers the kitchen is working on, oldest first. When empty: "No orders in the kitchen right now."
- Ready (right, larger): orders ready to collect, newest first. The newest one is highlighted in your brand colour and gently pulses. When empty: "Numbers appear here as soon as your order is ready."
- A footer: "Please show your token at the counter." (or order number when there are no tokens).
It shows takeaway, pickup and delivery orders only, never dine-in. Delivery orders leave the screen once sent out with a rider. Collected orders stay under Ready for about 10 minutes, then drop off. Cancelled, rejected and no-show orders are removed.
For privacy, the screen shows only token or order numbers and first names. No amounts, phone numbers or items. The screen refreshes by itself every few seconds; nobody needs to touch it.
Sound on the order-ready screen
Browsers block sound until someone interacts with the page. After opening the screen, tap anywhere once. The "Tap to enable sound" badge disappears, and from then on a chime plays whenever an order moves to Ready. If the TV restarts or the page reloads, tap it once again.
Changing the look or the link of the order-ready screen
Light theme. The screen uses a dark background by default, which works best on TVs. If you prefer a light background, add ?theme=light to the end of the screen link.
New link. If the link was shared somewhere it shouldn't be, press New link on the Order-ready screen card in Settings → Printing & screens and confirm with Create new link. The old link stops working straight away, so open the new link on every screen that shows orders. Anyone with the link can see order numbers (no names beyond first names, no amounts), so keep it off public posts.
Troubleshooting the order-ready screen
| Symptom | Fix |
|---|---|
| Screen shows "not found" | The link was replaced with New link, or your plan has ended. Copy the current link from Settings → Printing & screens. |
| "The order-ready screen isn't in your plan." | The Order-ready screen module is off or not in your plan (on Starter it's one of the 4 modules you choose), or your plan has ended. See Modules and Plans and billing. |
| Numbers don't move to Ready | Orders move when the kitchen marks them ready on the Kitchen display, or when staff press Mark ready on the Takeaway & delivery board. |
| No chime | Tap the screen once to enable sound, and check the TV volume. |
| Dine-in orders missing | That's by design: the screen is for takeaway, pickup and delivery only. |
