POS settings

Pick how this outlet runs its point of sale (restaurant, bar, café / counter, shared tables or quick service), then switch order types, tables, guests and quick bill on or off.

Settings → POS settings lets each outlet run the POS the way it really works. A bar doesn't need a guest count, a café counter doesn't need tables, and a restaurant with long shared tables needs several bills at one table. The POS is in every plan.

Only owners and managers can change it (settings permission). It applies to the outlet you're working in, and staff see the change the next time they open the POS.

Pick a profile

Each card sets everything below to suit it. You can still change any switch afterwards.

ProfileForWhat it sets
RestaurantTables, guests and coursesDine-in, tab, takeaway and delivery; one check per table; guests optional
BarTabs and quick re-ordersTab first, then dine-in and takeaway; guests not asked
Café / counterFast billing, no tablesEat here and takeaway; no table picker (every bill gets a token); Quick bill on
Shared tablesSeveral bills at one tableDine-in, tab and takeaway; several checks per table, shown as T4·A, T4·B
Quick serviceToken and counterEat here, takeaway and delivery; no tables; Quick bill on

An outlet that has never saved this page keeps working exactly as before (all order types, the table picker). Its starting guest question and starting order type follow its business type: restaurants ask for guests optionally, bars and cafés don't ask.

What staff see

A preview under the profile cards shows the order types in the order the POS will show them, and which one a new order starts as.

Order types

Switch Dine-in, Tab, Takeaway and Delivery on or off. Only the ones that are on appear across the top of a new order, in the profile's order. Tab needs the Bar tabs module and Delivery needs the Delivery module (the page links to where to turn them on). Start every new order as picks the type the POS opens with.

Tables

  • One check per table: picking a table opens its check.
  • Several checks per table: picking a table that already has a bill asks "Add to T4·A", "Add to T4·B" or "New check at T4". Each check is paid and printed on its own. See Live floor.
  • No tables: counter billing. There is no table picker; a dine-in order is "Eat here" and gets a daily token for pickup. Service charge applies as it does for dine-in.

Guests

  • Don't ask: no guest count anywhere. The floor's guest buttons disappear too.
  • Optional: a small stepper you can leave empty.
  • Required: the check can't be sent without a guest count.

Speed

  • Quick bill: one big Charge button (items, charge, print). The send button only shows when a kitchen display or printer needs telling.
  • Start every order as a walk-in: new takeaway, delivery and tab orders keep no name or phone, and never become guest profiles. Staff can still tap Add details.
  • Bar tabs limit: the POS warns when an open tab reaches this amount.

Kitchen

If the outlet has no Kitchen display, the POS runs the whole check: Send becomes Add to check, the header says On the check, and nothing shows as "in the kitchen" on the floor or the POS. Takeaway, delivery and token orders are the exception: they still show as Preparing on the order-ready screen until staff press Mark ready on the Takeaway & delivery board, so guests aren't called the moment the order is rung up. Kitchen tickets still print on your kitchen printers when printing is on. With no kitchen printer, a Print kitchen ticket button shows after each send; turn on Open the kitchen ticket to print after Send to open the browser's print window by itself. See POS basics and Stations.
