The dashboard, Overview page and search
Find your way around AirQR: the Overview page and its alerts, the sidebar, the top bar, ⌘K search, the outlet switcher and the connection pill.
Every AirQR screen has the same frame: a sidebar on the left, a top bar, and the page in the middle. The first page most staff see after signing in is Overview, a live summary of today at the current outlet. Kitchen staff go straight to the Kitchen display instead.
What does the Overview page show?
Overview greets you by name and shows today's date and the outlet you're working in. It refreshes by itself as orders, tables and bookings change, so you can leave it open.
- New order (for roles that can use the POS) opens the Point of sale. Floor opens Tables.
- Get set up (owners and managers only) lists six setup steps with a progress bar until they're all done: add your menu, brand your QR menu, set up tables, print and place QR codes, accept UPI payments, invite your team.
- Stat cards: Sales today compared with the same time last week (owners and managers; other roles see Open checks instead), Orders today with the share that came by QR, Tables occupied with open checks and the amount still due, and In the kitchen with parties waiting to be seated.
- Today by hour (owners and managers): sales per hour compared with the same day last week, with a link to Analytics.
- Coming up: today's remaining reservations with time, name, party size and occasion.
- Latest orders: the last few orders with table or type, time, status and total. Tap one to open it.
- Popular today: the five best-selling dishes today.
- My shifts appears for staff when the roster is in use (Growth plan and above).
What do the alerts on the Overview mean?
Coloured strips appear above the stat cards only when something needs attention. Tap a strip to go to the right page.
| Alert | What to do |
|---|---|
| N online orders waiting to be accepted | Open Takeaway & delivery and accept or reject them. |
| Running low: … | Stock of these ingredients is at or below the reorder point. Open Inventory (Growth plan and above). |
| N unhappy guests to follow up with this fortnight | Guests rated 1–3★ in the last 14 days and nobody has marked it resolved. Open Feedback and call them back. |
| Table 5 wants the bill / asked for water / is calling | A guest pressed a button on the table's QR menu. Handle it and mark it done on Tables. |
If you see Your role doesn't have access to that page. Ask an owner or manager if you need it., you tried to open a page your role can't use. See Staff roles: who sees what and I can't see a page or a menu item.
The Plan banner at the very top (owners and managers) warns when the free trial has 7 or fewer days left, when a plan has ended and you're in the 7-day grace period, or when the plan has ended. Owners get a See plans link.
How is the sidebar organised?
The sidebar groups pages into sections. You only see the pages your business uses (their module is on in Settings → Modules) and your role is allowed to open, so most sidebars are shorter than the full list below. A section with a single page is folded into the one above it. Owners (and managers who may manage modules) also see Add or remove modules at the bottom.
- Overview
- Service: Orders, Takeaway & delivery, Point of sale, Kitchen display, Print station, Tables, Reservations, Cash drawer
- Menu & QR: Menu builder, Import menu, Translations, Design & brand, QR codes
- Growth: Offers & coupons, Loyalty, Campaigns, Guests, Feedback, Analytics
- Back office: Inventory, GST & accounts
- Team: My shifts, Time clock, Roster, Attendance, Tips split
- Admin: Staff, Devices and Help. Settings and Plan & billing (owner only) are in the avatar menu at the top right, and ⌘K still finds them.
Pages your plan doesn't include aren't in the sidebar; the search (Ctrl K / ⌘ K) shows them with a lock, and Settings → Modules lists them with their plan or add-on price. If a page you expect is missing, see I can't see a page or a menu item. A number badge shows work waiting: open checks on Orders, orders to accept or pay on Takeaway & delivery, new tickets on Kitchen display, table requests on Tables, and parties on the waitlist on Reservations.
At the bottom, Your menu is live opens your guest menu in a new tab. On a phone, open the sidebar with the menu button at the top left.
How do I switch outlets or businesses?
The box at the top of the sidebar shows your business name and the current outlet. Click it to open the outlet switcher:
- Pick another outlet under Outlets. Every page then shows that outlet's orders, tables, settings and reports.
- Add outlet goes to Settings → Outlets (owners and managers).
- Switch business appears if you belong to more than one business.
- A completely separate business is set up by AirQR. Contact us and we add it to your login; it then appears under Switch business.
Staff limited to certain outlets only see those outlets here. See Multiple outlets.
How do I use search (⌘K)?
Click Search or jump to… in the top bar, or press ⌘K on a Mac (Ctrl+K on Windows). Type a few letters to find any page you can open, then press Enter.
Quick actions at the top of the search list:
- New order (opens the POS)
- Add menu item
- New reservation
- Print table QR codes
- Open guest menu
- Toggle dark mode
When the dashboard is in Hindi you can still search using the English page names.
What's in the top bar?
From left to right:
- Search or jump to… (see above).
- Clock button (Growth plan and above): shows whether you're clocked in, with Clock in, Start break, End break and Clock out, and your next shift. See Time clock and attendance.
- View menu: opens the guest menu of the current outlet in a new tab.
- Connection pill (see below).
- Your avatar: opens your profile menu with your name, email and role, Language (English or हिन्दी), Appearance (light, dark or system), Settings and Plan & billing (when your role allows), Keyboard shortcuts, Change password and Sign out. On shared screens (Kitchen display, Point of sale, Print station, Time clock) it also has Device language. See Hindi and other languages.
What does the Online / Offline pill mean?
The pill in the top bar shows whether this device is connected to AirQR and whether offline sales still need to sync.
| Pill | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Online | Connected, nothing waiting. |
| Offline or Offline · 3 waiting | No connection. The POS keeps taking orders and printing on this device; 3 changes will sync later. |
| Syncing… | Offline changes are being sent now. |
| 3 to sync | Back online, changes about to sync. |
| 2 not synced (red) | The server refused some changes. Check Sync log. |
Click the pill for details: Waiting to sync, Refused by server, Last sync, a Work offline switch for flaky connections, Sync now and Sync log. Other pages show a yellow banner while offline because they need the internet. Kitchen screens on other devices, QR table ordering and online orders only see offline orders after this device syncs. If you sign out with changes still waiting, AirQR warns you first, because signing out deletes them from the device. More in Offline POS.
