Smart upsell ("Goes well with")

Suggest dishes that go well with what's in the guest's cart, using your own hand-picked pairings plus pairings AirQR learns from your orders.

Smart upsell shows guests a short "Goes well with" list in their cart, for example a lassi with a biryani or fries with a burger. It helps raise the bill without any effort from staff. Smart upsell is included in every plan, including Starter and the free trial, and works automatically; you can improve it by adding your own pairings.

Where do guests see "Goes well with" suggestions?

Guests see a Goes well with strip in their cart, just before they place the order:

  • On the QR menu at a table or takeaway counter.
  • On the online ordering page (pickup and delivery).

The strip shows up to 4 dishes as small cards with the name, veg/non-veg mark and price, and a + button. For a simple dish, + adds it to the cart straight away. If the dish has sizes or a required choice (like Choose a spice level), + opens the dish so the guest can pick first.

The suggestions are not shown on the staff Point of sale.

How does AirQR choose which dishes to suggest?

For each dish in the cart, AirQR picks up to 3 suggestions in this order:

  1. Your hand-picked pairings from the item's Goes well with section.
  2. Learned pairings: dishes that guests at this outlet actually ordered together in the last 60 days. A pair has to appear together in at least 3 orders, and the suggestion comes from a different category (so it suggests a drink or side with a main, not another main).
  3. If there are still fewer than 4 cards, AirQR fills the strip with your most ordered dishes at this outlet in the last 30 days.

AirQR never suggests a dish that is already in the cart, and never suggests dishes that are sold out, hidden or not on the menus shown at that outlet.

A new business has no order history yet, so at first guests see your hand-picked pairings and, once orders come in, your popular dishes. Learned pairings improve on their own as orders build up.

How do I add my own "Goes well with" pairings?

  1. Open Menu & QR → Menu builder and click the dish, for example Chicken Biryani.
  2. Scroll to Goes well with ("Suggested in the guest's cart when this dish is added (up to 3). We also learn pairings from your orders automatically.").
  3. Open Add a pairing… and pick a dish. The list shows every dish with its category.
  4. Add up to 3 pairings. Remove one with its ×.
  5. Click Save changes.

Your hand-picked pairings always come first, ahead of learned ones.

Good pairings:

  • A drink or dessert with a main (Biryani → Raita, Masala Chai → Bun Maska).
  • A side that most guests forget (Burger → Fries).
  • A higher-margin item you want to sell more of.

Pairings work one way. If you want Fries to suggest Burger too, add the pairing on Fries as well.

If a paired dish is deleted, it shows as Removed dish in the list; remove it and choose another.
